Quick Look: Big Bang fashion shoot

I’m not sure what this image is from, but I find it fun to see how the individual images come through — someone smart made them up.

Taeyang, Seungri, TOP, Daesung, G-Dragon

break it down:

Taeyang keeping it classic R&B—black hoodie with low-key accessories. The actual zipper on the jacket cues you in that this is not just a college comfort outfit, and the stone-wash jeans against all that black draw your eyes down after the bracelet’s brought your eyes to his face

Seungri is the most metro—he carries over the layered-chains as jewelry, has a more fashion-forward jacket but all in a basic color scheme of white, black, and taupe. High-tops keep it from getting too serious and mature.

TOP’s face is more focal than his outfit, but the pattern of his blouse is definitely a little odd, in keeping with his iconoclast fusion style. The hair color is edgy (and <bias > wayyy hotter than the superblonde or silver bouffants he’s been sporting, when he can work those, too </bias >) and maturing.

Daesung has a subdued biker vibe going on, but definitely a sports-variant—fingerless gloves in a light taupe rather than the more classic black, and what looks like a more utility-type vest. The texture of the shirt makes it look silky and comfortable, but also grunge-like: unironed. The sneakers are glitzy for the look, bringing it back to fashion while not contradicting the concept.

G-Dragon is carrying off mixed-media as well as is his wont—plaid and a print-tee combined which wouldn’t work unless the jaunty military style cap was defeating any sense of matching. I think I spy shiny vinyl pants, and so as usual every single piece he’s wearing I would like to borrow (but in a larger size). Though I may not put them all together in the same way—something along those lines, though.

Tell Me Goodbye – Big Bang in Suits

Full Disclosure: I have a bit of a crush on probably two of the YG Entertainment music video directors. Whoever put together the aesthetic on “Goodbye”, is one of those.

Anyway. Not to hyperfocus on Big Bang…okay, well, running with the fact that I’m kind of obsessing about Big Bang (and 2NE1) [LOOK, Protect the Boss? Still not all subtitled!] here’s just a little screen-cap festival of the boys in suits…

first point: this person found the hottest way to present TOP: a little bloodied, through a cracked window

Wait, that doesn’t feature a suit, just an incredibly cute profile for a guy with such dark charisma. …excuse me. Fangirl moment.

This show blends an actual intriguing story (where you don’t know what’s going on for sure, but it doesn’t seem like the result of someone’s actual LSD-fueled trip, either) and getting all the guys in very different settings, personas that you can actually connect to the narrative.

actually, I don't really know what the connection is with TOP. but mysterious works for him

tbh, who knew maknae Seungri could make that earnestness totally fit the conflicted cop character?

VESTS, gah. This is a fetish within a festish, here–the bulk of my suit screencaps involve awesome vest/jacket combos. The rest involve collars.

bad screencap, but that shoulder-holster is unreasonably hot. had to include

It’s a point of tailoring that works to bring out the man’s shoulder-line, and accentuate their lines when standing alone [OR to help older guys mask lazy-stomach under a coat, too].

this graveyard was like a hot sixth character. The girl is more an idea, though her dress was pretty

Vests also serve up a contrast opportunity, a big trio with jacket and shirt, where the tie is an accent rather than the focal point.[DOUBLE BUTTONS, why are you so snazzy?]

They chose well, giving dark Daesun the boldest color here. He makes it seem less of a bold fashion statement, when the point of this videos clothing is to give it more of a classic feel.

no tie, but the collar buttoned all the way. Iiinteresting.

Whereas they give Taeyang, with the most clear-cut hiphop style, a subdued but modern-cut jacket. I can see Ne-Yo in this coat, no question.

Another point to ponder: all are in leather gloves. Almost as if they were pallbearers, in terms of story, but another period detail that makes it seem classic rather than just costume.

GDforrealgraveyard

oddly...I have the least caps of this dude. His acting was more stand-out than costume. Oh, and he was mostly soaked or sitting on the floor side to the camera.

TOP in the car was the best part to watch, but the worst to try to screencap. Seungri actually steals the show for best scene-stills…

you're welcome, babe. Noona loves you, too.
